This book is about our family's move to Oxford, and the work done by the staff and patients (they liked to be called The Boys). While The Boys were receiving Rehab after suffering severe head injuries during WWII. This type of rehab takes years to complete, not weeks. They were additionally taught a trade, so they could support themselves and their families after discharge. During this time is when, what is now known as the Para Olympics. It is where my father invented the first mechanical lift, for transferring patients from bed to chairs etc. The Boys and the staff were part of our extended family because we lived in the same grounds as the hospital and spent many hours with them
